Egypt: Prices of 3000 Drugs Increased by Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that it has increased the prices of 3,000 drugs, of which about 300 drugs are against chronic diseases. Minister of Health Ahmed Emad El-Din said in a statement that the ministry has agreed with pharmaceutical companies to move up the prices of 15% of local drugs and 20% of foreign drugs (totaling 3,000 drugs), out of 12,000 drugs in the market. Kenya: New Rule to Check Unnecessary Medical Referrals Abroad

A doctor will from now on only refer a patient abroad for treatment if there is evidence that hospitals in the country lack the capacity to take care of them. Kenya: Aga Khan Hospitals to Get $12.5 Million Upgrade

The Aga Khan Health Services-Kenya and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) have signed a Ksh1.25 billion ($12.5 million) expansion and upgrading agreement for Kisumu and Mombasa Aga Khan hospitals. Kenya: Striking Doctors to Get Sacking Letters From This Week

Nearly 4,000 dismissal letters will be issued to doctors who are on strike from this week, the Nation.co.ke has learnt.
